Jon Rolls van Quest Software noemt acht redenen waarom je VDI boven Terminal Services (oftewel Session Hosting) zou moeten verkiezen. Tegelijkertijd zegt hij eigenlijk ook dat als geen van die acht redenen van toepassing zijn, je beter Session Hosting kunt gebruiken voor ongeveer een kwart van de prijs van VDI:

- Applications features not available on Session Hosting
- Business Continuity (een wellicht puur theoretisch argument overigens).
